We became official backers for the Kickstarter project for Pandora: Purge of Pride here at 1001-Up.com last month. High Class Kitsch’s work has now paid off, with the campaign receiving 122% of their modest $5,000 target.
Pandora: Purge of Pride is set in Victorian England and is based around the story of the namesake’s box. Players take on the role of Pandora, a naïve woman who has unknowingly unleashed the Seven Deadly Sins on her mansion, and puzzles must be solved in order to recapture the evils and stop them from spreading. Corresponding powers are gained along the way; for example, capturing Greed enables you to pull objects towards you while Lust attracts two items to one another. In order to see their project hit its target, High Class Kitsch recently re-evaluated their stretch goals to make sure the title was ‘as good as possible for as many gamers as possible’. Controller, Linux, Occulus Rift and PS Vita support goals were re-worked but, despite the project raising a total of $6,101 from 177 backers, sadly these weren’t achieved. Who knows though – one day you might see Pandora: Purge of Pride on many other platforms.
The title has just been added to Steam Greenlight and, although some are questioning the visual style, the majority of comments received so far have been positive. In an announcement on the page the developer says: “Our time on Kickstarter has come to an end, and we had a great experience thanks to the incredible support from all of you! [We] summed up our experience on Gamasutra along with lots of tips for other indies who want to try their luck at Kickstarter! Thanks again for all of the support! Be sure to give us a vote here on Greenlight!”
There isn’t long to wait, with Pandora: Purge of Pride scheduled for release on PC and Mac this month. We’ll be sure you bring you a review once we’ve opened the box.
